Job Description

I am looking for a long term couple who will embrace living self sustainably in a remote and beautiful part of Australia. You need to be handy, practical people for such a life style.
       I would like you to take on and expand the orchard and food gardens at the main house at Huntly. Experience in permaculture or horticulture is essential. One needs to understand organics systems such as Integrated Pest Management and Biodynamics.
​   A basic knowledge of mechanics is always useful. We own a JD tractor, a SAME tractor, a D4D caterpillar dozer and an 8 ton Acco tipper.

The House

The house is perched on top of a ridge with spectacular 360 degree views. The orchard is planted on swales that have been formed flowing down the hill.

There are two parts to the house joined by a breeze way. (Look at the top photo). The two bedrooms and open living area are lined with my antbed/manure mixture.It is a cool and cozy place to live, I have lived here happily for 30 years.

The Alfresco dinning room above and the snugger one in the living room when the westerlies blow. The house will have all the main furniture left there.

It is a 'brittle' semi arid environment where lots of water, mulch and shade are necessary to grow anything.

I love growing food. I want there to be an abundance!  for me,  for you, the earth and the wildlife!!
And theres the nursery. We have been collecting and germinating local native trees for the offset area. 
    Everything is on automatic drippers and spray system, but they need CONSTANT monitoring.
